Tim Panman is a guitarist specializing in tango, flamenco, classical music, and South American folkloric music. Tim earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam.

 

Throughout his career, Tim has explored many different musical styles, including tango, flamenco, Argentine folk music, Brazilian music, Latin American folk music, and classical music. Tim enjoys demonstrating just how versatile the guitar is across many different styles, from accompanying soloists and vocalists to being part of a rhythm section, as well as performing as a soloist in a wide range of genres.

 

Tim began playing guitar at the age of 6 under the guidance of Irish guitarist Andrew Orme, who taught him the fundamentals of classical guitar. After six years of lessons with Orme, Tim transferred to the Gitaarsalon in Enkhuizen, where he was exposed to many different styles, such as classical, fingerstyle, Latin, flamenco, jazz, and tango. At the Gitaarsalon, Tim developed his skills in all these styles under the guidance of Pieter Nanne Groot. From the Gitaarsalon, Tim went on to the Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam, where he spent seven years immersing himself in music from all corners of the globe.

 

During and after his studies, Tim became a regular member of many different ensembles and musical groups and performed in concerts all over the world. Some of the highlights of his concert career include: the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam, NL), the Barbican Centre (London, UK), the Xinhai Concert Hall (Guangzhou, China), and the Historische Stadthalle (Wuppertal, DE).
Through his craftsmanship, experience, and musical wit, Tim brings a refreshing perspective on the guitar and all its facets to the stage. His greatest passion is showing audiences what the instrument is capable of.

 

In addition to solo concerts and performances with ensembles, Tim also teaches guitar lessons, covering a wide variety of styles.

 

In addition to performing and teaching, Tim has joined the board of the Gitaarsalon and programs and organizes two concert series in Enkhuizen, as well as the annual Guitar Festival at the Zuiderzee Museum.

Tim Panman is een gitarist die zich specialiseert in tango, flamenco, klassieke muziek en Zuid-Amerikaans folkloristische muziek. Tim heeft zowel zijn Bachelor als Master titel bij het Codarts Conservatorium in Rotterdam behaald.

Gedurende zijn carrière heeft Tim vele verschillende muzikale stijlen aangeraakt, waaronder tango, flamenco, Argentijnse folklore, Braziliaanse muziek, Latijns-Amerikaanse folklore en klassieke muziek. Tim laat graag zien hoe veelzijdig de gitaar is in vele verschillende stijlen. Van het begeleiden van solisten en vocalisten tot onderdeel zijn van een ritmische sectie, maar ook om als solist te spelen in vele verschillende genres.

Tim begon op 6 jarige leeftijd met gitaarspelen onder de hoede van de Ierse gitarist Andrew Orme, die hem de grondbeginselen van klassiek gitaar bijbracht. Na 6 jaar les bij Orme gevolgd te hebben, stapte Tim over naar de Gitaarsalon in Enkhuizen, waar hij in aanraking kwam met veel verschillende stijlen zoals klassiek, fingerstyle, latin, flamenco, jazz, en tango. In de Gitaarsalon ontwikkelde Tim zich binnen al deze stijlen onder begeleiding van Pieter Nanne Groot. Vanuit de Gitaarsalon is Tim doorgestroomd naar het Codarts Conservatorium in Rotterdam waar hij zich 7 jaar lang in muziek uit alle hoeken van de planeet heeft verdiept.

Tijdens en na zijn studie werd Tim een vast onderdeel bij veel verschillende ensembles en muzikale gezelschappen en speelde hij concerten over de hele wereld. Een aantal hoogtepunten in zijn concert carrière zijn: Het Concertgebouw (Amsterdam, NL) The Barbican Centre (London, UK) de Xinhai Concert Hall (Guangzhou, China) en de Historische Stadthalle (Wuppertal, DE).

Door zijn vakmanschap en ervaring en muzikale humor brengt Tim een verfrissende blik op de gitaar en al haar facetten het podium op. Zijn grote liefde is om het publiek te laten zien waar het instrument toe in staat is.

Naast solo concerten en optredens met ensembles geeft Tim ook gitaarlessen, waarin hij veel verschillende stijlen behandelt.

Naast uitvoeren en doceren is Tim toegetreden tot het bestuur van de Gitaarsalon en programmeert en organiseert hij twee concertseries in Enkhuizen, alsmede het jaarlijkse Gitaarfestival in het Zuiderzeemuseum.

Throughout his life, Tim has played a lot of different music styles, including tango, flamenco, Argentine folklore music, Brazilian music, Latin-American folkloric music, and classical music. His main priority is to show the versatility of the guitar in all music styles. To accompany soloists and singers, or to be a rhythm and groove section in an ensemble, but also to be a soloist in a broad variety of genres. Next to playing concerts as a soloist and with ensembles Tim is also a guitar teacher covering various music styles.

Tim started playing guitar at the age of 6 under the wings of Andrew Orme, and was taught about the foundations of classical guitar. After 6 years of classes with Orme, Tim switched to the Gitaarsalon in Enkhuizen. In the Gitaarsalon Tim had encounters with a lot of different styles, e.g. classical music, fingerstyle, Latin music, flamenco, jazz and tango. Here, Tim studied under the supervision of Pieter Nanne Groot. Together, they focused on Tim’s classical repertoire, but Pieter showed Tim that classical techniques can be a foundation for playing other music styles! After meeting his former teacher at the conservatory (Kay Sleking), Tim chose to study South American music.

During and after his studies, Tim became part of many ensembles and musical groups, playing concerts all around the globe. Some highlights of his concert-career are playing in the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam, the Netherlands), the Xinhai Rehearsal Hall (Guangzhou, China) and the Historische Stadthalle in Wuppertal (Germany).
